Stephen Crawford, MPP for Oakville, is welcoming the next step in the Midtown
Oakville Transit‑Oriented Community (TOC) that will help deliver more than 6,800 new
homes, create almost 4,000 jobs during construction and support approximately 400
new long-term jobs in the community.

In response to feedback received from the town and the community, Ontario is
working with the municipality and impacted partners on further refinements to the
Oakville TOC that will result in building heights of 38 storeys, in addition to service
space, while maintaining the overall number of homes and community benefits.

These refinements to the project reflect strong local advocacy, extensive community
feedback and a clear commitment to responsible growth that works for Oakville.

“From the beginning, my priority has been making sure Oakville’s voice is heard,” said
Stephen Crawford, MPP for Oakville. “Residents were clear about the need for
balance, scale, and fit and I’m encouraged that the province listened and committed to
capping residential heights while continuing to deliver much-needed homes and
important benefits for our community.”

The Midtown TOC is planned near Oakville GO Station and will support new housing
and employment opportunities close to transit, helping reduce congestion while
strengthening the local economy. In addition to delivering new housing units, the
Oakville TOC will also include parks and publicly accessible spaces, bike paths and a
day care, as well as enhanced access and walkability to the GO station, creating a
more connected community for generations to come.

Since 2024, Oakville has received more than $44 million in provincial funding for
housing‑enabling and community infrastructure, including investments in water and
stormwater systems to support responsible growth.

“By building more homes near transit, investing in infrastructure and respecting
Oakville’s character, we can plan for the future while protecting what makes our
community special,” Crawford added.

With a long track record of standing up for Oakville’s interests, including efforts that
earned him the Keys to the Town on two occasions for his advocacy on behalf of
residents, Crawford will continue working closely with residents, Mayor Burton and
Town Council to ensure the Midtown TOC is implemented in a way that reflects
community priorities and delivers real, lasting benefits for Oakville.
